Chocolate Frosting

Share

This frosting recipe is straight off the back of the Hershey’s Cocoa box. And look how simple it is! It makes a wonderful, rich, fudge-like frosting. Plus the ingredients are real. Not like these un-healthy ingredients off the can of pre-made frosting: “Sugar, Water, Vegetable Oil Shortening (Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and Cottonseed Oils, Mono- and Diglycerides, Polysorbate 60), Corn Syrup, Cocoa Powder Processed with Alkali. Contains 2% Or Less Of: Corn Starch, Salt, Nonfat Dry Milk, Cream Powder (Cream, Nonfat Milk, Soy Lecithin), Preservatives (Potassium Sorbate), Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Artificial Buttercream Flavor, Lactic Acid, Ascorbic Acid”. BLECH! Enjoy this real frosting instead.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup Hershey’s cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Directions:

  • Melt butter.
  • Stir in cocoa.
  • Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency.
  • Add small amount additional milk, if needed.
  • Stir in vanilla.
